92-year-old former President George H.W. Bush was taken to the hospital over the weekend, according to the Chicago Sun Times.
Spokesman Jim McGrath told The Associated Press that the 41st president of the United States was admitted to Houston Methodist Hospital due to shortness of breath.
Jean Becker, Bush's chief of staff, told the local news that he is expected to be released in a couple days to rest at home.
“Doctors and everyone are very pleased, and we hope to have him out soon,” McGrath said.
President Bush has a form of Parkinson's disease and in recent years, has relied on a wheelchair. Despite his loss of mobility, he partook in a tandem parachute jump for his 85th birthday, and a few days after his 92nd birthday, took 40 wounded warriors out on his speedboat for a fishing trip. He manned the helm the entire trip.
