Hell-raising Gretchen Wilson shocked the world of country music after releasing her comeback single, "Rowdy." The spontaneous release of the riotous tune quickly incited speculation if the song will act as the first single off a forthcoming album for the redneck woman, a rumor she is now putting to rest.
In an interview with Nash Country Daily, Wilson sat down to discuss everything from her new music and what fans can expect from her in 2017.
"So is it safe to assume this will be a first single off an upcoming album?" asked NCD editor in chief Lisa Konicki.
"It is a first single off an upcoming album," confirmed Wilson. "I don't have an exact release date for that yet because I'm still writing."
Wilson shares that she has written an overflow of songs for her comeback album but plans on cutting at least five more songs before officially compiling it. So what are fans to expect from the album?
Wilson continued that she doesn't want to have every song to "match" and hopes to establish each track with its own separate identity. Wilson goes on to say that her album's sound will be similar to her other albums in that it will have a somewhat "sporadic flow."
