Earlier this March, not only the country music world, but fans worldwide learned of the devastating death of singer Joey Martin Feek, the front woman to the dynamic duo "Joey + Rory". With her music partner and husband, Rory Feek by her side, Joey entered a deep sleep which she would never wake up from due to the effects of her terminally diagnosed cervical cancer. It was a story that was followed by millions, all of whom joined husband Rory in tears when they learned of Joey's passing.
While Joey's death was shattering, Rory took initiative in sharing his wife's story and keeping her legacy alive. His recurring blog posts on his site "The Life I Live", although extremely heartbreaking to read, have provided documentation for the struggle that the husband and wife endured during Joey's time of treatment and passing in addition to the endeavors that Rory has experienced since losing his wife.
With the creation of these blog entries, Rory had decided he would release a movie capturing his late wife's relentless struggle against her own body, in conjunction to their cherished final memories together. While a trailer for this tear-jerking documentary was uploaded in June to the "Joey + Rory" Youtube channel that broke the hearts of this duo's followers, another piece of home footage was released on July 21st. The video contains a very happy and soft-spoken Joey who is cooing and affectionately cuddling with her youngest daughter, Indiana, on what is the new mom's very first Mother's Day.
The footage of the mother and daughter beginning to form their everlasting bond brought tears to viewers and gave a small glimpse to the immense emotional experience that this video will showcase.
The two minute clip captures the emotion that every mother, novice and veteran, experiences when enjoying their newborn child. This home video pastes a smile on the faces of those absorbing the love that Joey is bestowing upon little Indy, until the video fades and we are all left heartbroken at the thought that this is a mere video of the past that won't be recreated.
The loss of this extraordinary woman has provided anguish, but Rory hopes to spread joy with this recreation of the beautiful life that was Joey Martin Feek.
The movie, titled "To Joey, With Love", will be released September 20th of this year.
