Hopeful Randy Travis Makes The Promise We’ve All Been Waiting For

Fox 4

Country music fans were heartbroken when Randy Travis‘ 2013 hospital admission due to a upper respiratory infection lead to a devastating stroke that sent doctors to speculate whether he would ever walk or speak again. However, Travis defied the odds, regaining his mobility and speech in a remarkable fight for survival.

Sitting down with Fox 4, the “Three Wooden Crosses” singer and his wife Mary spoke of the admirable progress made within the last few years. Not only has Travis’ health stabilized as he continues to make staggering improvements daily, but his music career has also made sensational strides. Upon being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016, Travis shocked the world when he sang a portion of the beloved hymn “Amazing Grace” during his induction ceremony, creating a profound moment of emotions and faith.

However, Travis was merely dipping his toes back in the magical water of the music world, as he told reporter Richard Ray that he is planning a comeback!  The singer spoke clear and concisely to Ray, telling him he felt “good” and, with the help of his wife, unbelievable strides are being made to hopefully get the singer back in the game! Travis laughed as his wife explained, “We’re trying. We’re working hard at it!”

Mary spoke of the heartbreaking moments at the hospital, one in which doctors cautiously advised that perhaps Travis would never wake from his coma, suggesting that terminating life support would be the best option. “I asked him… do you want to keep fighting? He squeezed my hand and a little tear fell down and I knew then that he wasn’t ready to give up,” Mary said as she recalled speaking to her husband amidst his coma.

While the singer is often faced with the struggle of forming sentences, his wife admitted that singing is, surprisingly, an easier task for the award winning star. Although the two are continuing physical therapy at home and being diligent about Travis’ progress, both are extremely optimistic for the singer’s chance back on the stage! Let’s get this fish back in the water!

Share you kind words of support for Travis!
