Jana Kramer Breaks Down During Emotional Dance To Martina McBride’s ‘In My Daughter’s Eyes’

It was an emotional night for Jana Kramer and for anyone who watched this week’s Most Memorable Year themed episode of Dancing with the Stars. Each of the celebrities left in the competition had to choose their most memorable year and a song that represented that year for them. For Jana Kramer, that year was 2016 when her daughter was born.

In the video package played prior to Kramer’s performance with partner Gleb Savchenko, the singer spoke about her abusive marriage to Michael Gambino and how her 7-month old daughter Jolie has made her stronger than ever. 

“This week, it’s most memorable year, and mine is 2016, because I had my baby girl, Jolie Rae,” Kramer said. “I feel like since I’ve had Jolie I’m the strongest I’ve ever been in my entire life. She’s completely given me strength that I didn’t even know was possible for me to have. 

“And I’ve actually been in bad situations where I’ve let people take that away from me. Ten years ago, I was in an abusive relationship. It was the worst time of my life. He went to jail for attempted murder on me. It’s been a very heavy secret to hold for so many years.

“The situation ten years ago essentially broke me. It took having Jolie to piece together every single broken part of me.“

Jana chose to dance a contemporary routine to Martina McBride’s touching ballad, “In My Daughter’s Eyes” saying that every single lyric of the tune relates to her daughter. 

An emotional Kramer then shares, “I never want my daughter to ever go through the things I went through, or never want her to question that she’s not good enough. And I want my daughter to know that no man should ever put their hands on her. Because she’s beautiful.”

Kramer and Savchenko then perform a moving number in front of a captivated audience that included little Jolie. Following their performance, Kramer went to Jolie and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
