On Monday (June 20), Kelly Clarkson revealed her plans to make a big announcement on Friday (June 24). In the days that followed, Clarkson entertained her fans through Facebook Live with covers of some of the most iconic songs of all time. Just a few of the songs she sang were "These Arms of Mine" and "I Want to Know What Love Is."
When Friday finally came, Clarkson sang yet another soulful song, the classic "Stand By Me." Besides being soulful in style, all of the songs Clarkson chose for the week had another connection. As it turns out, Clarkson's song choices during the week were all hints toward her big announcement.
Each and every song that Clarkson sang during the week was performed by an artist who recorded with Atlantic Records. Now, Clarkson herself is an Atlantic Records artist as well, after she made her departure from her former record label, RCA.
Clarkson's big announcement is that she is now going to record a soulful record with Atlantic Records, similar in style to the legends she covered during the week. As Clarkson said herself, this new album is one she's "been dying to make since I was a kid." All throughout her announcement video, Clarkson couldn't stop smiling, and even remarked on how she couldn't contain her excitement.
Although Clarkson's next album will be soulful in style, she also promised she will someday make a country record. Clarkson loves country music, and covers it frequently, so she's gathered a large following from country music fans.
But Clarkson's new album wasn't the only announcement she had to make. She also revealed the unveiling of her new website, kellyclarksonlive.com, which features live recordings of a few of the many covers she's done over the years.
Clarkson's soulful album with Atlantic Records is set for release sometime in 2017. In the meantime, you can enjoy listening to her songs available on her new website, as well as her single "Piece by Piece," below.
Congratulations to Clarkson on this new stage in her career!
