Country Music Hall of Famer Kenny Rogers surprised fans with bittersweet news! Rogers has been embarking on his final tour since late May, ultimately wrapping up his music career and accomplishments with one final farewell. The tour, “The Gambler’s Last Deal”, has already earned its spot on calendars of fans worldwide who are eager to see the legend before he calls it quits. However, Rogers has revealed that he will be bidding adieu to more than just touring.
In a discussion with Billboard, Rogers informed that he will be pulling back from music altogether. The singer explained,
"I've done everything I set out to do. Every goal I've set, I've done that, and there's a point where you have to say, 'I've had my turn. Let someone else have it,' and that's kind of where I am. It's not that I dislike music; it's just that I can't keep doing this and do what I want to do, which is spend time with my family."
Rogers, who currently has 12-year-old twin boys as his youngest children, said, "I have two older boys and I didn't get to spend this time with my older boys, and I resent it because it's a very special time in a kid's age." He goes on to express his pride in his boys' ability to play sports and how eager he is to simply enjoy their games with his wife of 19 years, Wanda Miller.
The musican also spoke of his decision to not partake in his usual Christmas show, ultimately conveying that there just simply isn't enough time for it all.
While we're sure to miss the voice of this iconic star, we can't help but be grateful for the incredible music and memories he undeniably brought our way. You can enjoy, perhaps his most iconic song, "The Gambler" below!
