In a medley composed of "I Am A Lonesome Fugitive" and "Sing Me Back Home", Haggard and his entourage of singers give a chilling performance that both allows us to reflect on the past and ponder at the future.
Both songs had formerly reached no. 1 on the US country charts, assisting in Haggard's rising fame and popularity. While his first single to top the charts, "I Am A Lonesome Fugitive" was not personally penned by the singer, it continued to be one that resonated with his past experiences and tugged at the heart strings of even the most resilient. However, despite both songs having a common prison theme, they we're anything but locked away.
