The bitter heartbreak, fights, and anger from a nasty divorce can bring out the worst in people, but there is always one party that suffers worse: the kids.
One of the most powerful and compelling tracks from hard-rocking country duo, Montgomery Gentry, "I'll Keep The Kids" sees Eddie and Troy slow it down and paint a very vivid picture of the dark side of divorce.
Written by MG's own Eddie Montgomery, this real and raw song about a devastating divorce covers every painstaking moment someone in that situation might face - and sums it all up in one powerful line: "So if you don't care....I'll keep the kids".
The song sums up the end of a decades-long marriage through which the narrator saw his ex ask for everything material and valuable, but reveals that he sees a few things that aren't on the list, adding in one last barb, "So if you don't care...I'll keep the kids."
Honestly one of the most heartbreaking songs ever released by the duo, this single became a great success for the duo and earned them another solid Top 40 hit in 2012 following the success of their No. 8 hit, "Where I Come From" in 2011.
