The day after their 14th wedding anniversary, the country singer gave his late wife the gift of a lifetime and one that their family could cherish forever.
Rory Feek, one half of country and gospel duo, Joey + Rory, has been working on a project to honor his late wife since before they even knew she was sick.
As he writes on his blog, he began filming in 2014, just a few weeks before his youngest daughter was born, for what would later become a full-length documentary of their lives together.
One that covered all the blessings, struggles, faith in God, and hope in a bigger plan for the last two years they would spend together.
The idea came when Rory's friend Ben watched some of the beautiful footage he had been arranging and offered his company's help in creating a full-length film, bringing their memories together for, as Rory describes, "something greater".
The film, perfectly titled To Joey, With Love, will be shared with the world for one night only in celebration of her life and her 41st birthday.
Rory reveals that he had not cried beside Joey's grave until yesterday, when he shared this beautiful trailer to the movie of their life with her...for their anniversary.
Although Joey did not live to see her upcoming 41st birthday, the one-night showing of the film across the nation will happen just a week after her birthday, on September 20th.
The movie is surely going to be one of the most moving and heartfelt films of the entire year, and Rory says that he hopes the film will give encouragement to people watching, "in their marriage, or in their suffering, or in their faith, or something else..."
Closing out the beautiful blog entry, the singer writes:
"I just want to lift my bride up… and continue to tell her beautiful story, while Indy and I live out the new one that God is now writing. I am looking forward to spending the rest of this summer working on the film here at home (with Daniel and Aaron and Gabe and some other friends who are working on it with me)… and watching this story unfold. Again."
"Happy Anniversary my love."
Watch the trailer to the documentary below, but be prepared with a box of tissues - you will definitely need them.
For more information on the movie, Rory and Ben have set up a website about the film with all the details.
