A huge congratulations is in order for Sam Hunt.
Not only did he receive just about every nomination possible at every awards show last year, he won a few too! He won New Artist of the Year or Breakthrough Artist at the American Country Countdown Awards, the American Music Awards, the Music Biz Awards, and the Taste of Country Music Awards.
Hunt was also awarded with the Songwriter Artist of the Year at the ASCAP Country Music Awards as well as Digital Album of the Year at the ACCAs.
Since he released his debut album, Montevallo, he has been breaking records left and right. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart and the lead single, "Leave The Night On", hit No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts at the same time. It was the first time in 22 years that someone reached the top spot in three country charts simultaneously. The last person to do so was Billy Ray Cyrus.
The album has since been certified 2x Platinum and continues to break records, including one that no male country artist has ever achieved.
According to Billboard, Hunt became the very first solo male country artist with four songs hitting No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart with his fifth single from Montevallo, "Make You Miss Me", reaching the top spot on Tuesday (Aug. 30).
His previous No. 1's are "Leave The Night On", "Take Your Time", and "House Party". "Break Up In A Small Town", his fourth single off the album, peaked at No. 2.
"'Make You Miss Me' is an important song to me," Hunt told Billboard. "Having it go No. 1 as the fifth single off of my first record is the cherry on top of a chapter in my life I'll never forget."
Congratulations to Hunt, who co-wrote all 10 tracks on his debut album, on a job well done! Hunt's record label CEO Mike Dungan assured us in a statement that new music is to come from Hunt. We hope he continues his streak of success!
