Scotty McCreery Bares Heart & Soul In Unplugged Performance Of ‘Five More Minutes’

Billy Bob's Texas YouTube Channel

In June 2016, Scotty McCreery debuted a song at the Grand Ole Opry that has touched people around the world. Called “Five More Minutes,” the song has taken country music by storm…and it isn’t even an official single.

The video of McCreery’s Opry performance has generated nearly two million views since it was released in late June. McCreery’s honest emotion and the song’s heart-tugging lyrics really resonated the Opry audience, who gave him a standing ovation.

McCreery wrote “Five More Minutes” following the death of his grandfather in January 2015. The end of the song covers that heartbreaking time in McCreery’s life, as he begged God for “five more minutes” with his beloved grandfather.

As if “Five More Minutes” wasn’t personal enough, McCreery got real intimate with the song during an unplugged performance at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth.

Backed up by two members of his band on acoustic guitar, McCreery crooned out the tune backstage at Bob’s. The unplugged arrangement made the emotion in McCreery’s voice even more clear than it was during his Opry performance.

Not only can you hear the emotion in McCreery’s voice, but you can see it on his face as he sings. That emotion is especially evident when he reaches the part about his grandfather.

Anyone can simply sing a song. But it’s another thing entirely to be able to feel a song as you sing it. Watching McCreery’s unplugged rendition of “Five More Minutes,” you can see and feel just how much it means to him. He left his heart and soul on the line as he sang, and it shows.

Tune in below to watch McCreery’s stunning acoustic performance of “Five More Minutes.” Don’t be surprised if it gives you chills, or even makes you cry.
