Roughly two weeks after postponing some dates on their Peace Out: The Farewell Tour, Aerosmith announced the postponement of the remainder of their 2023 tour stops.

In a statement posted to Aerosmith’s social media pages on September 11, lead singer Steven Tyler announced that he had been put on strict vocal rest for 30 days due to vocal damage “subsequent bleeding.”

On Septemeber 29, an update was posted saying that 75-year-old Tyler’s injuries were worse than first thought. The band shared that Tyler’s doctor confirmed that the singer had fractured his larynx in addition to suffering vocal chord damage and will require “ongoing care.”

“He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential,” the statement read.

The band subsequently postponed all remaining shows on their schedule indefinitely. Aerosmith’s website was wiped clean of any concert dates at the time of the announcement.

“I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!” Steven Tyler added to the statement.

Tickets that have already been purchased are eligible for refunds or will be honors for rescheduled dates.

Steven Tyler has been the lead singer of rock band Aerosmith since 1970.

Tyler’s recent vocal chord injury is the latest in a string of injuries he has suffered throughout his career. In 2006 Steven ruptured a blood vessel in his throat, forcing Aerosmith to cancel a number of dates on their Rockin’ The Joint Tour. Two years later the singer underwent multiple foot surgeries. In 2009, the singer fell off a stage during a concert in South Dakota. The fall resulted in head and neck injuries and a broken shoulder.

Steven Tyler has never let injuries keep him from returning to the stage, and fans are hopeful this time is no different.
