Cledus T. Judd Comes Out Of Retirement To Turn ‘Up Down’ Into Parody About His Weight

Despite retiring from the music industry in January 2015, it seems that country parody artist Cledus T. Judd couldn’t stay away. On July 18, 2018, he revealed on Instagram that he was coming out of retirement with the release of a new song.

In the post, he wore a shirt that read, “Strate outta retarment,” and yes, it included the spelling errors.

Luckily, we didn’t have to wait long to see which song the comedian/singer would be parodying. Titled “(Weight’s Goin’) Up Down Up Down,” the single is a play off of the Morgan Wallen and Florida Georgia Line number one hit “Up Down,” which just so happens to be one of the hottest country songs of the summer.

The jokester, whose real name is Barry Poole, released the single on July 20, and told fans to buy it because “child support is due.”

“(Weight’s Goin’) Up Down Up Down” is the first single off his forthcoming album Strate Outta Retarment and in it, he sings about his rising cholesterol, trying to hit the gym, and loving KFC and sweet tea.

It features him eating all of his favorite foods while trying to get in shape to come out of retirement “like Garth.” At the end of the video, he apologizes to country singer Joe Diffie for making a fat joke at his expense.
