Southern rock may be considered an exclusively American genre, but Lynyrd Skynyrd has proven that's not the case. The kings of Southern rock have a fan base that expands around the world, with fans on all corners of the globe.
It turns out that Skynyrd has a group of huge fans in the German band MoreGain. The rock group cites Skynyrd as one of their main influences on their Facebook page, along with Rickey Medlocke's band Blackfoot.
MoreGain has six members, with the youngest being 19-year-old Tobias Graf, who describes himself as "probably Lynyrd Skynyrd's largest fan in the world." Back in 2012, Tobias took to his personal YouTube to show some love for Skynyrd by playing a cover of one of their most well-known songs.
Proudly wearing a Skynyrd t-shirt, Tobias grabbed his natural finish Gibson Explorer guitar and started jamming out to "Workin' for MCA." The song was featured on Skynyrd's album Second Helping, and was written by Ed King and Ronnie Van Zant.
For his cover, Tobias decided to play only Allen Collins' and Ed's parts, while putting his own unique twist on them at the same time. If you're a big Skynyrd fan like he is, we're sure you've seen plenty of guitar covers before. But we're not exaggerating when we say that Tobias absolutely shreds this one!
Considering that Tobias was only 15 or 16 at the time that this cover was filmed makes it all the more remarkable. Everything was on point, and his fingers flew over the strings so fast, we could hardly keep track of them.
After watching this cover, we'd say that Tobias has a bright future ahead of him in Southern rock. Now you know you have to see what we're talking about, so go ahead and watch him shred "Workin' for MCA" below.
