The dad who went viral after his wife posted his jaw-dropping delivery of "Tennessee Whiskey" - accumulating over 6.9 million views on YouTube since its publication Jan. 2 - is back which a heart-stomping cover of "Stand By Me."
Following the massive success of his "Tennessee Whiskey" cover, originally recorded by George Jones and re-popularized by Chris Stapleton at the 2015 CMA Awards, Kris Jones returned with with a bluesy cover of Ben E. King's classic. Jones stayed true to his past performances, remaining behind the wheel of his car for a breathtaking delivery, sans any retouching to his stellar vocals.
“Thank you,” he said prior to his performance. “Y’all don’t really know how much this really means to me. How much it means to my family. Everything that I’ve done in life, I’ve worked so, so hard for. Nothing, nothing was ever given to me. It’s been a really long, hard road and I’m thankful for being where I am today.”
Shockingly, Jones previously auditioned for The Voice but was rejected. Luckily for him he has a strong fan base at home, including three children he shares with his wife Destiny, who is responsible for making him go viral after she uploaded his "Tennessee Whiskey" cover to her Facebook unbeknownst to him.
