On November 12, 2014, some of music’s biggest stars came together in order to honor one of the greatest rock bands of all time. The headliner and guest of honor that day was Lynyrd Skynyrd, and all of the other artists were there to pay tribute to the legendary band.

Held at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia, the show was recorded and titled One More For The Fans! – Celebrating The Songs & Music of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Artists from all genres stepped up to cover Skynyrd’s classic hits, including one major country superstar.

Known for his deep baritone voice, Trace Adkins hit the stage with his own country fried rendition of Skynyrd’s “What’s Your Name.” The song was originally released by Skynyrd in 1977 off of their album Street Survivors. Written by guitarist Gary Rossington and late lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, the song hit number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remains a fan favorite to this day.

Trace had some pretty big shoes to fill when it came to covering the song, but he took it on with full force. His naturally gritty voice was the perfect fit for the fun-loving tune, which if you’re familiar with his music, actually sounds like a song he would record himself.

Since he is a country artist, Trace couldn’t help but give his performance a dose of country spunk. In doing so, he gave the song a new flair that made it enjoyable for all who listened to it.

Out of all the artists who covered Skynyrd that day, Trace’s rendition of “What’s Your Name” is the one performance that is guaranteed to have you grooving along in your seat. After you hear it in the clip below, you’re going to want to listen to it again and again!

Whenever you’re done listening to Trace’s version of “What’s Your Name,” you should watch him perform his fiery new single, “Lit,” in the clip below. In “Lit,” Trace sings about all of the things that light up his life, most especially the love of a good woman. If you like Trace’s live performance of the song, then you can purchase it on iTunes here.

Then when you’re done, go back and listen to his cover of “What’s Your Name” again and again!
