Trace Reveals How ‘Days Like This’ Came Straight From God

The long-loved country superstar goes behind-the-song for this very personal look at an incredible piece of music!

Trace Adkins’ song, “Days Like This” was released as the third track on his 13th studio album, Proud to Be Here and, as Adkins explains the inspiration to write the track was hard to come by…until God sent a little something his way!

“There’s an interesting story behind it because it literally started out as one of those days where [the writers] were all sitting on the back deck at my cabin talking to each other about whatever we were going to try and write about that day.”

All four of the writers had been working, but nothing had come to mind, so Trace got up to turn off the news that was talking about something dreary and said “Well, we’re not gonna write about that.”

“And Kenny Beard said ‘Yeah. We’re not gonna write about something like that on a day like this.’ Because it was a beautiful morning and then we literally wrote what we were looking at from that deck.”

Trace goes on to reveal that the contrast between the gloomy news and the beautiful day opened up their hearts, souls, and minds to be just purely creative in that spontaneous moment, saying “we literally wrote what we were looking at from that deck”.

“And that’s what we did – we just wrote that idea at that very moment. It was just handed from heaven. That’s how it happens sometimes. Those are the fun ones.”

The song itself is a beautiful melody with lyrics that you can tell have come straight from the heart.
