Trace Adkins thrilled fans on Tuesday (January 24) when he announced his big plans for 2017. Those plans include his much-anticipated new album, a new tour, and a new single!

As Adkins revealed in a press release on his website, the new album will be titled Something’s Going On. It is set to drop on March 31, and will contain the singles “Jesus and Jones” and “Lit,” along with his newest release, “Watered Down.”

Written by the powerful songwriting team of Matt Jenkins, Trevor Rosen and Shane McAnally, “Watered Down” serves as a grown man’s reflection on life. Looking back on the things he did in the past, the narrator realizes he’s now become a bit “watered down.” Still, he can feel some of that rebellious spirit inside of him:

“I don’t go all in, but I’ll take a gamble. And I don’t burn both ends of the candle anymore…We still like our whiskey. Now it’s just a little watered down.”

The message of “Watered Down” is one that speaks to the soul of everyone out there. We all had a bit of wild streak when we’re younger, but find as we grow up that it never completely leaves.

Adkins had a special surprise in store for fans in the form of an accompanying lyric video for “Watered Down.” The video was filmed on his own farm, which is located just outside of Nashville.

As the press release on Adkins’ website explains, the video shows him living “a simple, slower life.” He can be seen enjoying the view of his pond, doing work in his barn, and riding one of his treasured tractors.

The lyric video and the song itself are both refreshing works of art. We have no doubt in our minds that “Watered Down” is perfectly poised to become Adkins’ next big hit.

You can catch the lyric video for “Watered Down” below. If you’d like a copy of the single, it’s available on iTunes. You can also pre-order a copy of the album Something’s Going On by clicking here.
