Fans of Nashville rejoiced as news broke a couple weeks ago that CMT will be picking up the ABC-axed drama for its fifth season.
Other details were not released other than the fact that the series will have a Season 5, after a HUGE social media campaign where fans used the hashtag "#BringBackNashville" and created a petition on change.org.
The passionate fans of Nashville, called Nashies, may be starting a new petition when they find out two of the show's main characters will not be returning to the show.
Aubrey Peeples, who plays Layla Grant, and Will Chase, who plays Luke Wheeler, are reportedly hanging up their mics and saying goodbye to Nashville, according to multiple media outlets.
This may or may not come as a surprise to fans, but both characters' roles became a bit smaller in Season 4. Grant's character was Jeff Fordham's (Oliver Hudson) love interest before being killed off last fall. She was trying to destroy Hayden Panettiere's character before being stopped by Avery (Jonathan Jackson).
Chase's character was a love interest for Connie Britton's character, Rayna James, but after she permanently got back together with her one true love, Deacon Claybourne (Charles Esten), his character's storyline has been pretty non existent.
Other stars are still in negotiations to return, and it's reported that those negotiations are going well. Hayden Panettiere, whose character's fate at the end of Season 4 was unknown after a major cliffhanger, is in talks to return when she gets out of rehab for postpartum depression.
We are so happy for Nashville's return!
