Just yesterday the doctors attending to Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s continued struggle to overcome some symptoms related to concussions sustained during a crash did not sign off on his highly anticipated return to the track.
Fans were left brokenhearted, but supportive of Dale Jr.'s choice to remain on the sidelines, however less than 24 hours later, his team posted photos of the previously announced changes to his car.
As reported by FOX Sports, Dale Jr. is out for at least two more races, and his fill-in for those races will be taking over the No. 88 car - including its paint scheme!
"The look is a radical departure for the No. 88," Tom Jensen writes in the article. "But it's definitely eye-catching."
The team revealed that their sponsor Axalta along with the University of Michigan teamed up to support the engineering and business students, coatings research, and other ventures that crafted this new paint scheme for the car.
Earnhardt and Hendricks Motorsport's No. 88 Chevy SS will get decked out in traditional colors for the University of Michigan for the upcoming NASCAR Pure Michigan 400.
Check out the Nationwide 88's post on the new colors below along with a video of Dale Jr.'s crash that may have contributed to his concussion symptoms.
