Country music sweetheart Carrie Underwood won over the nation with her genuine talent and profoundly kind heart. Although snagging the winning title of American Idol’s Season 4, Underwood surpassed even the greatest of expectations and went on to shatter records and acquire a plethora of awards and recognitions.

However, despite this bombshell’s searing success, fans often enjoy reverting to older footage of the singer, in which her career was nothing more than a televised talent that captured hearts. Perhaps one of her greatest performances before Idol, a 14-year-old Underwood’s rendition of the inspiring hit “I Hope You Dance”, originally performed by Lee Ann Womack, continues to spread a positive message of perseverance and motivation.

Underwood’s voice is nothing short of angelic as she wholeheartedly sings the lyrics, “May you never take one single breath for granted/ God forbid love ever leave you empty handed/ I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean/ Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens.”

Her flawless vocals gave hope to those who tightly gripped the moving lyrics, serving as both a purpose and motivation to overcome any obstacle. Listen to her wondrous performance below.
