Ashley McBryde Has Reached 3 Years Into Her Sobriety Journey

Ashley McBryde is celebrating a major personal achievement.

The country music star has been very open with her fans about her journey to staying sober. Just earlier this year, McBryde shared that she had reached 1,000 days without drinking alcohol.

And now, in her latest social media post, the “Lights On In The Kitchen” singer revealed she has officially reached three years of sobriety.

McBryde shared the exciting news with a series of photos showing her hiking with friends and visiting beautiful waterfalls. She also included pictures of herself holding a sobriety coin engraved with “three years sober.”

In the post’s caption, she opened up about what it took to reach this point in her journey. She reflected on the strength and support that helped her get here.

“Today marks 3 years. Since my last drink. My last time being “that guy” in my social and professional circles. The last panicked phone call for help. The final slip up that caused the intervention from those that love me and the shift in me allowing me to say “that’s enough”. The details are known by those who are deserving of such painful information. Gratitude is the guiding light today. Grief is okay.”

McBryde also said that she finally feels like herself and loves the person she’s become.

She offered words of encouragement to others who may be going through similar struggles, reminding them that they’re not alone and that healing is possible.

“A version of me had to die off so I could become myself. I have love for her and every other version of me that had to exist so I could stand by this waterfall today. Thank you for the ability to stand here. Celebrating by connecting to Mother Earth was just the kind of party I needed. If you’re struggling , reach out. You aren’t alone and don’t have to be. You’re gonna be delighted at how many of us there are. I love you, keep going.”

About The Singer’s Decision To Stop Drinking

Ashley McBryde decided to stop drinking in June 2022. However, it wasn’t until she hit the one-year mark of being sober that she publicly shared her decision to give up alcohol.

During an interview with PEOPLE in 2023, she explained why she felt it was important to keep her sobriety to herself for a while.

“All people are gonna do is just wait for you to screw up, and that’s really annoying. I did it for me. I didn’t do it for social media.”

At one point, McBryde came to realize that her heavy drinking was doing more harm than good.

She also remembers too many moments where it held her back from fully living her life. That was when she decided to step away from alcohol and focus on becoming a better version of herself.

Maybe part of being the ‘whiskey-drinking badass’ is knowing when to set it down, knowing when it’s costing you too much,” she said. “This had become too costly, and I’m not willing to trade this — what I do, what I love — for anything.”

Congratulations, Ashley McBryde, on three years of sobriety!
