Blake Shelton is speaking out about the rumors claiming that he and his wife of five years, Gwen Stefani, are getting a divorce.

Over the past few months, several stories online have speculated that Shelton and Stefani’s relationship has been on shaky ground.

The couple usually keeps their personal life private, but Shelton recently set the record straight in rare comments while co-hosting Country Countdown USA on Saturday, January 10.

“Starting in October, I think, or maybe November, I started noticing these articles popping up about ‘Blake and Gwen, they’re split up,'” Shelton said. “‘They’re not even seeing each other anymore, they’re going through a divorce.’ And then, a week later, a picture comes out of us walking out of the grocery store… ‘Oh, they’re back together again!'”

He continued, “And another week goes by, and we’re not seen at the grocery store: ‘They’re divorcing!’”

Shelton went on to point out that you can’t believe everything you see online. These days, it’s way too easy to create fake photos and make situations look different from what they really are.

“I see pictures of Gwen and I on social media that I really go, ‘that looks so real,’ but I know I don’t even own that shirt or, ‘Whose car is that?’ I don’t believe anything anymore that I see on the internet. I mean, nothing. I just don’t believe it.”

This isn’t the first time rumors about Shelton and Stefani splitting have been shut down. Back in December, a source close to the couple told PEOPLE that fans haven’t seen them together as much simply because of their busy work schedules.

“There is no truth to the split rumors,” the source said. “They’ve just been juggling demanding schedules. When they are together, it’s just so obvious how solid they are.”

Shelton and Stefani first met in 2014 while they were both serving as coaches on The Voice. At the time, Stefani was married to Gavin Rossdale, and Shelton was married to country star Miranda Lambert.

Both of them went through divorces around the same time, and not long after, they started dating in 2015. Shelton and Stefani later tied the knot in 2021 at their ranch in Oklahoma.
