Blake Shelton‘s single “God’s Country” has turned into one of the biggest hits of his career. The song has topped both the Billboard Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, and also crossed over to claim the 17th position on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight after the song first topped one of the country charts, Shelton shared that he thought his days of earning number one hits had come to an end:

And for it to be 18, 19 years now, into my career, and to just now be having that record, I never would have dreamed. I literally thought those days and those types of records for me were 10 years ago, five years ago, and everybody has their moment and then it’s over.”

The music video for the song has also been a huge success, and has generated millions of views.

It’s easy to see why the music video has racked up so many views, because it’s a stunning work of art. It perfectly captures the beauty of the natural world, and enhances the power of the song.

Speaking of the song’s power, it got enhanced even further through the release of a brand-new, alternate rendition. Shelton dropped an acoustic version of the song on July 12, 2019, and it’s unlike anything you’ve heard before.

The acoustic recording strips away the heavy instrumentals and chimes that define the original rendition of “God’s Country.” While Shelton’s vocal track sounds the same as it does in the original, it is somehow made more powerful by leaving his voice more exposed.

We could describe the new version of the song in more detail, but it’s probably best if you just listen to it yourself. Go ahead and check it out in the clip below, then let us know what you think.

Which rendition of “God’s Country” do you enjoy most? The original or the acoustic version? We love them both!
