Rory Feek Shares Joey’s Last Words Before Drifting Into A Deep Sleep

Rory Feek/This Life I Live

Two weeks have passed since Joey and Rory Feek celebrated a huge milestone. Not only was it their daughter Indiana’s 2nd birthday, but it was a day that Joey prayed she would live to see.

Despite her increasing pain and declining health, Joey fought to live to see Indy’s birthday. In a recent blog post from Rory, he shared Joey’s excitement over reaching this important milestone.

“Joey barely slept the night before Indiana’s birthday.  She was too excited.  Jody said she didn’t fall asleep until about 5 am, around the time that Indy and I woke up.   When Joey woke up, a little before noon, I came in to see her… and tears were flowing down her face.  Again, I put my arms around her and asked, ‘why are you crying honey?’…’We made it…’, she softly answered. ‘We made it’.”

However, not long after the birthday celebration, Joey decided that she wasn’t going to fight any more. According to Rory, Joey said she was ready to stop fighting and that it was time to go home. Joey took the time to say goodbye to her parents and sisters.

“There were lots of tears as she explained to each one how much she loved them and that she was going to be going home soon.  That her time here was done and she was going to go to sleep soon,” Rory wrote.

Joey then said goodbye to Indiana. “…you be a big girl for your papa… and that mama will be watching over you”.

Joey then fell into a deep sleep. But, before closing her eyes, she told Rory “I have no regrets… I can honestly say, that I have done everything I wanted to do and lived the life I always wanted to live”.

Our prayers are with Rory and the rest of Joey’s family at this difficult time.
