Montgomery Gentry & Lynyrd Skynyrd Team Up In 2004 “Sweet Home Alabama”

CMT/Ed Rose

Two of the biggest Southern-rock bands rallied together to deliver an incredible performance that left the massive audience breathless.

During a 2004 episode of CMT‘s Crossroads, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Montgomery Gentry teamed up to deliver a concert of a lifetime and played a seemingly endless stream of hits.

When Johnny Van Zant picked up the microphone and said “Hey, how ’bout a little ‘Alabama’ for ya? the crowd roared to life! Everyone loved the concert and had been hoping for this moment all night!

The very second Troy Gentry stepped up to the microphone and said “Big wheels keep on turning,” everyone knew this was going to be one of the best performances they’d ever seen.

Montgomery Gentry and Skynyrd are both known for their hard-rocking, powerhouse hits that reverb inside almost every American’s soul and don’t fail to deliver on that with this epic collaboration.

Issued on Skynyrd’s second album, “Sweet Home Alabama” has become a staple in American culture and, as such, is instantly recognizable.

During the entire episode, the bands jammed out incredible hits like “Call Me The Breeze”, “Hillbilly Shoes”, “My Town”, “Red, White, & Blue”, and “All Night Long”.

CMT‘s Crossroads is a show based on pairing country music artists with musicians and bands from other genres and encourages a freestyle-like show where they often sing each other’s hits and perform one-of-a-kind duets.
