Whether you’re a fan of country music or not, you know the story of Loretta Lynn

She has become the Queen of country music in her near 50 year long career, with a rags to riches story that we can’t seem to get enough of. We aren’t the only ones.

PBS created American Masters—Loretta Lynn: Still a Mountain Girl. The two-hour program is part of a series that has previously uncovered the stories of legends like B.B. King and will next focus on Willie Nelson who is also featured in Lynn’s story.

If you’ve seen or read Lynn’s autobiography, Coal Miners Daughter you might think you know the full story – but there is so much more. Lynn and her children tell it like no one ever has, and some of country music’s biggest stars share their experiences with the Queen of country as well. Even Sissy Spacek sits down to discuss the woman she portrayed on the silver screen!

Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire, and Miranda Lambert, share their love for Lynn and her music to give fans another perspective. Viewers get a glimpse of Lynn’s journey from poverty in Butcher Holler, Kentucky all the way to the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Along the way, witness never-before-seen home movies, and hear personal accounts of fights with husband, “Doo” and every inspiration throughout Lynn’s life. Watch the PBS special below!
