Devastating News For ‘American Pie’ Singer Don McLean Following Arrest

Almost two months after his arrest on a domestic violence charge, Don McLean’s wife has now filed for divorce from the “American Pie” singer.

On January 18, police were called to McLean’s house in Camden, Maine. McLean was arrested on the misdemeanor domestic violence charge and was later charged with criminal threatening, terrorizing, criminal restraint, obstruction and criminal mischief.

Following his arrest, McLean posted a statement on his website, stating that he and his wife, Patrisha have been experiencing a lot of problems in the past year.

“What is occurring is the very painful breakdown of an almost 30 year relationship,” McLean wrote. “Our hearts are broken and we must carry on. There are no winners or losers but I am not a villain. “

Patrisha was granted an order of protection in January, and according to her attorney, Gene Libby, the time away from her husband has helped her gain “strength and insight away from his influence and control.”

On Thursday (Mar. 10), Partisha filed divorce papers in main, citing “adultery, cruel and abusive treatment, and irreconcilable differences.” McLean’s defense attorney confirmed that Patrisha has filed for divorce.

Despite all of the issues going on in his personal life right now, McLean remains dedicated to his music and performing for his fans.

“I may never recover from this but I will try and hope to continue to entertain you all as I always have,” he said.

McLean is supposed to appear in court again next month.
