The ACM Awards have always served as the perfect setting for collaboration. Every now and then, an artist teams up with someone unexpected, and the result is an unforgettable performance.
On Monday (Mar. 21), country legend Dolly Parton announced that she will be performing at the ACM Awards this year, which will air on Sunday, April 3. Parton also revealed that she will be honored with the Tex Ritter Award during the ceremony for her hit television movie, Coat of Many Colors.
The Tex Ritter Award is presented each year to a country-music related movie that was released and/or received exposure in the previous year. Some other films that have received the award in the past include Coal Miner’s Daughter, Walk the Line, and The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas, which Parton starred in.
In her announcement, Parton shared that a special artist will be presenting the award to her, and will also team up with her to perform a few songs. Have any guesses who it might be?
Bet you never saw this one coming…Parton is scheduled to perform with pop superstar Katy Perry at the ACM Awards this year!
Parton didn’t share what songs she’ll be performing with Perry at the ACM Awards, but we bet they’ll probably sing “Coat of Many Colors,” along with some of Parton’s other classics.
Tune in below to watch Parton’s announcement. What do you think of the collaboration between her and Perry?
