Over the course of his career, Keith Urban has penned his fair share of love songs, including the mega-hit “Somebody Like You.” Leading up to his wedding to actress Nicole Kidman, Urban helped co-write a love song about their relationship called “Once in a Lifetime,” which was also a major chart success.
With his eighth studio album, Ripcord, set for release on May 6, fans have been curious to know if Kidman helped inspire any of Urban’s upcoming love songs.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Urban’s face lit up the second the reporter asked him about his inspiration for the love songs on the album. “Well, all of the love songs I’m drawing from a particular place,” he said with a smile.
Urban also revealed that Nicole has heard every song on Ripcord already, even the ones that aren’t love songs. As it turns out, she has an active role in helping Urban with his album, and he appreciates her opinions of his songs.
“Nic of course hears everything over the course of about 15 months I’ve been working on this record,” he said. “So, she’s heard everything over, and over, and over again, God bless her.“
It’s clear that Urban values all of the ways that Kidman helped him shape his new album. You can tune in to the video below to watch his full interview.
Who else can’t wait to get their hands on a copy of Ripcord when it is released?
