Kiefer Sutherland earned his claim to fame as a Hollywood star, appearing in films such as A Few Good Men, The Lost Boys, and A Time To Kill. Though Sutherland is perhaps best known for his role as Counter Terrorist Unit agent Jack Bauer in the FOX television series, 24

But now, Sutherland is taking the time to focus on another passion of his…singing and songwriting. He has announced plans to release his first studio album, called Down In a Hole, sometime this summer, which will be country in style.

On Monday (Mar. 28), Sutherland released the video for his debut single, “Not Enough Whiskey.” Sutherland co-wrote the song, along with the album’s ten other tracks, with producer Jude Cole. For Sutherland, songwriting has been a much-welcomed relief and way to express himself.

This record is the closest thing I’ve ever had to a journal or diary,” Sutherland said in a press release. “All of these songs are pulled from my own personal experiences. There is something very satisfying about being able to look back on my own life, good times and bad, and express those sentiments in music.

Even though Sutherland enjoyed writing all of the songs for his new album, he’s even more excited to finally share them with his fans. His music video for “Not Enough Whiskey” gives us all a glance into what he’s been working on in the studio.

The video follows Sutherland as he walks around a dingy motel, singing about his lost love and how “there’s not enough whiskey to make it all alright.” In an interview with Rolling Stone, Sutherland revealed that “Not Enough Whiskey” is deeply personal to him. I’ve certainly been there, where something will happen in life, and one, two, three bottles of whiskey are not going to fix it,” he said.

Knowing Sutherland’s personal connection to the song makes the music video even more captivating than it already was. You can can check it out below.

In addition to releasing his new album, Sutherland also plans to go on tour in April, and will be a presenter at this year’s ACM Awards. We wish him best of luck as he kicks off his musical career!
