Last week, during heavy rains just outside of Nashville, country singer Briana Tyson and her publicist, Julie Reliford, were involved in a multi-car accident that completely totaled their vehicle. The pair was en route to a radio tour stop to promote the singer's latest single "Throwback," when their vehicle hydroplaned on Interstate 40 causing them to spin 180 degrees and collide with a truck.
Miraculously, there were no casualties from the accident, but Tyson suffered a broken collarbone and Reliford suffered bumps and bruises. Tyson canceled several performances immediately following the accident.
"I am so beyond grateful that everyone involved was okay. It was quite possibly one of the scariest moments of my life, but I know God had his hand of protection on us today. For me to walk away with only a broken collarbone is such a blessing," Tyson said. "I so appreciate the support and prayers that I have already received from amazing fans and friends in the industry. I’m bummed we didn't get to visit everyone in Cookeville, but as soon as I am healed up I promise you we will be back!"
In an update posted to her social media accounts on Sunday, Tyson shared a photo of herself with her arm in a sling. The caption read, "My left shoulder is almost two inches shorter than the right due to the overlapping clavicle bones. Where my shirt hits, that's the end of my shoulder. Looking in a mirror is comical."
Earlier today (April 5), Tyson shared via Instagram video that she will be undergoing surgery this afternoon to repair her broken collar bone.
Our prayers are with Briana Tyson today. We wish her a speedy and full recovery and look forward to seeing her back on the road soon!
