Last night (April 7), American Idol wrapped after fifteen seasons leaving its judges with a little extra time on their hands. For country crooner Keith Urban there is no better way to fill a calendar than with a world tour.
In June, Urban will kick off his Ripcord World Tour with the help of Brett Eldredge and Maren Morris. But, the special guest Urban will be taking Down Under has everyone buzzing. Urban recently announced that mega star Carrie Underwood will be joining him on the Australian leg of his tour in December.
Underwood, a seven-time Grammy winner, joined Urban for a song called "The Fighter" on his latest album Ripcord. The collaboration was a long-time dream for Urban who sang with Underwood when they first toured together in 2008.
"I’ve always loved singing with her," says Urban in a statement. "We had written this song, 'The Fighter,' that needed a female voice and Carrie’s voice immediately came to mind. I can’t wait for people to hear it — and hope that we get to do it live.”
Thursday night, the duo performed a cover of "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" on the American Idol finale. The stunning rendition was just a small sample of what we can expect from Keith and Carrie's "The Fighter" collaboration. Urban's album, Ripcord, is set to be released in May, just weeks before he kicks off his tour. We can only hope that Urban gives us a sample of his duet with Carrie Underwood before the album's release.
While we wait, check out the video below from the duo's American Idol finale performance from Thursday night.
