For more than 60 years, the legendary singer (and close friend of Elvis) Sir Tom Jones and his wife Lady Melinda Rose Woodward had been inseparable.
The pair met when they were both just 12-years-old in Wales and grew up in the same town. At age 16, the two soulmates married and soon after welcomed their only child, Mark Woodward, in 1957.
Jones, known for his chart-topping songs like "It's Not Unusual", "What's New Pussycat", and "She's A Lady", took home many awards over his career, including three Grammy awards.
Tragically, following several concert cancellations due to a "serious illness" in his family, the singer has revealed that his beloved wife, Melinda Rose, has "passed away on Sunday morning, April 10th, after a short but fierce battle with cancer."
The statement from Jones' agent continues to say that she was surrounded by her husband and loved ones, passing peacefully at a hospital in Los Angeles.
It is extremely saddening to hear of her passing and we are keeping our thoughts and prayers with Sir Tom Jones and their family during this difficult time.
Watch Tom Jones sing one of his biggest hits, "She's A Lady" in the video below.
