Willie Nelson & Waylon Jennings sent this hit to the top of the charts in 1978, just three years after it was first written and recorded by Ed Bruce.
Nelson and Jennings’ gained notability for the track when it nailed the No. 1 chart position, and they sang it often during their time performing together. The pair earned a Grammy Award just a year later for their work on this single, and a solo version of Nelson’s was featured in the film, The Electric Horseman.
Nowadays, most country artists have sung this at least once during a concert, and it’s a true outlaw classic!
