12-Year Old Brought To Tears By Judge’s Response To Her ‘America’s Got Talent’ Performance

America's Got Talent

12-year old Darci Lynne Farmer wowed the judges and crowd alike during Tuesday night’s America’s Got Talent season premiere.

The Oklahoma native was joined by her puppet, Petunia the rabbit, for a stunning singing ventriloquism act that not only earned her a standing ovation, but the season’s first Golden Buzzer.

Farmer received her first puppet just two years ago after telling her parents that she wanted to learn ventriloquism to help overcome her shyness. While shyness is still an issue for Darci, she worked up the courage to audition for America’s Got Talent

“Well, it was one of my big dreams, but also I would like to keep ventriloquism alive because it’s not common, you know,” she said. “Ventriloquism kind of helped me find my voice. It’s really helped me come out of my shell. My shyness is getting better.”

The judges were in awe of her performance. Not only was her ventriloquism flawless, but her vocal abilities were out of this world. As Darci’s song concluded, the crowd and the judges began rising to their feet. As Simon Cowell joined in the standing ovation, Darci burst into tears, overcome by the response to her act.

“I believe that that rabbit is a real separate person. I love you. I believe you’re gonna go far. You just changed your life tonight, young lady,” said judge Howie Mandel.

“We had an act early on, who were very good but I’m not gonna remember them in an hour. I’m gonna remember you in a week, in a month, in a year. You’re both brilliant and when you’ve got it, you’ve got it,” said Simon Cowell.
