Willie Nelson Cover Not Enough To Save ‘Voice’ Contestant

NBC/YouTube

Last night, The Voice Season 10’s Top 12 became a Top 11. Throughout the live show, the artists were told one by one who had garnered enough votes to move on until only two artists were left standing: Team Pharrell’s Emily Keener and Team Adam’s Owen Danoff.

Both Keener and Danoff’s placement in the bottom two were a shock as each received 4-chair turns during the blind auditions and had consistently delivered stunning performances ever since. Both artists were given one more opportunity to sing for America as they vied for the Instant Save. Keener went country as she sang Willie Nelson‘s “Blue Eyes Cryin’ In The Rain”, while Danoff sang Ed Sheeran’s “Lego House.”

Following their performances, the duo’s coaches plead with America to save the their team members.

“I want to speak to the heartland.  You know what you heard.  This is a 17-year-old girl who knows what she wants to do.  You can continue to push her forward.  She deserves it.”

But Pharrell’s words and a Willie Nelson song weren’t enough for Emily Keener. After five minutes of frantic and intense Twitter voting, America chose to save Owen Danoff, sending talented teen Emily Keener home.

Check out Emily Keener’s rendition of Willie Nelson’s “Blue Eyes Cryin’ In The Rain” below and let us know what you think of last night’s results.
