During The Voice results show on Tuesday night (April 19), Blake Shelton stepped out of his red chair and up on stage to join his team for a performance of a classic country song. Following the previous week's elimination, Shelton's team was cut in half, leaving Adam Wakefield, Mary Sarah, and Paxton Ingram as the only remaining contestants on Team Blake.
Since two of Shelton's remaining three contestants consider themselves as country artists, it made sense that they would all agree to perform a well-known country song with a bit of pop influence, Eddie Rabbitt's "I Love a Rainy Night."
Rabbitt released the song as a single in November 1980, and it eventually topped both the country and pop charts. The song was so popular that it was certified gold by the RIAA for selling a total of one million units.
As to be expected, The Voice crowd thoroughly enjoyed Team Blake's rendition of Rabbitt's tune. Each of the three contestants took their turns singing individually, while Shelton stood on stage next to Wakefield and played guitar. Of course, Shelton eventually joined in as well, and sang and harmonized along with his teammates.
Besides their spectacular voices, the highlight of Team Blake's performance was the obvious chemistry they share as a team. It's clear from watching them that they all connect to one another as artists and friends, which made it a fun performance for them and the audience alike.
Tune in below to check out Team Blake's lively rendition of "I Love a Rainy Night."
Once all of the results came in, it was revealed that everyone on Team Blake was saved and will be continuing on in the competition. That means we'll get to see plenty more of these three in the future, and we can't wait for what they'll sing next!
