1. Tammy Wynette’s ‘Stand By Your Man’

Clarkson kept it classic during a 2012 concert in Noblesville, Indiana, when she granted a fan request by singing Tammy Wynette‘s “Stand by Your Man.” She chose to perform a stripped down version of the song, and was joined on stage by a single acoustic guitar player and no one else.

Since the lyrics are a sort of tease toward the man in the narrator’s life, Clarkson started off having a bit of fun with the song by acting like she was singing it to her guitarist. But the main reason the crowd loved Clarkson’s cover is because it was the perfect showcase of her astonishing vocal talent.

Even before Clarkson finished singing the final note, the whole room roared with applause. Once you watch her performance below, it will be easy for you to see why.

These are just a handful of the many outstanding country covers Clarkson has performed over the years. There are many more, but these are the best of the best! Which one is your favorite?
