Anyone who has ever played a sport knows that having a energized pregame playlist is an important part of getting pumped up. This is something that Team USA knows all too well, which is why they made sure to pick the perfect song as their team song for this year's Summer Olympics.
In a matter of months, Team USA will take off to Rio de Janiro to compete in the summer games. For many of the athletes, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, and all of the thrills associated with that time are ones they will never want to forget.
You could say that participating in the Olympics will make Team USA feel like they could "Live Forever," and their choice of theme song echoes that sentiment exactly.
This year, Team USA chose The Band Perry's 2015 hit single "Live Forever" as their team song, which they'll play to get hyped up before their various competitions.
Written by all three of the Perry siblings along with Jenna Andrews, Nadir Khayat, Jakke Erixson, and Karl-Ola Kjellhol, the song is a celebration of the moments in life that make you feel invincible. The chorus expresses these feelings best through the lyrics, "This time, I want it all/I want it right now, feel the fall/Go, go crazy, go, go, go crazy/We're gonna live, we're gonna live forever."
Along with its powerful message, "Live Forever" is an upbeat, celebratory song that makes it the perfect source of motivation for Team USA, which lead singer Kimberly Perry talked about following a recent performance of the song on TODAY:
" 'Live Forever’ is really about those moments that make you feel like you’re going to live forever, and that really is the spirit of the Olympics. And we’re just really honored to bring that song to these guys."
We're sure that listening to "Live Forever" before their competitions will help push Team USA to victory! If you also want to feel like a winner, then watch The Band Perry's official music video to the song below.
Congrats to The Band Perry on this great honor!
