Fans of Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani were thrilled to find out that the couple collaborated on a song for Shelton's new album, If I'm Honest. While the two skirted around the rumors that they were making music together, Stefani confirmed the news on Instagram in April when she shared a photo of the back of Shelton's album. The photo caption read: "Look what I found lying round the house. #ispymyname #goaheadandbreakmyheart."
Shelton made an announcement of his own about the collaboration on Tuesday night (May 3). The "Came Here To Forget" singer posted the news to Twitter saying, "SOOO.... I'm performing next week on @NBCTheVoice. I'm performing with @gwenstefani. We're performing a song off my album we wrote together."
While on the red carpet for the Radio Disney Music Awards over the weekend, Stefani took time to talk about writing the song, "Go Ahead And Break My Heart", with her boyfriend.
"I am excited because I never in my wildest dreams thought I would write a song with that guy," she told E! News. "He's so talented. He's an amazing writer. Every time I collaborate with anyone I feel like it's the best thing I've ever done. Whenever I collaborate, it lifts me."
Shelton opened up about collaborating with Gwen last month. "We were at a point where it's like, 'Do we want to go there? What will people think?' And then we finally just got to the point where it's like, 'You know what? I don't give a s–––," Shelton told PEOPLE.
"I love this song! This song's important to us and the fact that we wrote it together is so important to both of us," he added.
Blake Shelton's album, If I'm Honest, drops May 20. Tune in to The Voice Monday, May 9, to hear Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton perform "Go Ahead And Break My Heart."
