Just days after a huge number of cars ended up in high-speed accidents, one of the most veteran NASCAR drivers sends everyone a message.
The award winning driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was not alone in his statements and joined other drivers like Denny Hamlin in speaking to the masses about what happened on the track.
As NBC Sports reveals, Dale Jr. spoke with SiriusXM NASCAR radio on Tuesday (May 3rd) to talk about the weekend race and upcoming events. His remarks about Talladega may surprise some of you.
"Every race is different. We may go to Daytona and Talladega without changing a thing and not have anything that looks anything like we had Sunday," Earnhardt said. "I think everybody just needs to chill. There's really no reason to make a knee jerk reaction to what we saw Sunday."
Over 30 of the world's best racing drivers were on the track that day and got tangled in a mess of a crash. The crashing was so extreme, in fact, that people have been talking about it all week. The dangers, the wild footage caught, and now some are talking about how to prevent it from happening again.
"There isn't a fix. The cars are gonna draft they're gonna stay close together," Earnhardt continued. "There's a lot of different things that you can try, but you've got to be willing for those things not to work [both] the fans and the sport. If the race is a snoozefest you gotta accept that and own it."
Even fellow racing legend Denny Hamlin spoke up about the crashes on Sunday, calling the the wrecks "horrific".
