One of the 1990s biggest female country singers has just suffered an incredible loss.
Mary Chapin Carpenter, named for her mother, Mary Bowie Robertson, and her father, Chapin Carpenter Jr., posted a photo to social media earlier today expressing that her beautiful mother had tragically passed away on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016.
The photo is a collage of two photos showing her beloved mother in both her younger years and a more recent snapshot.
She captioned the post, “Mary Bowie Robertson Carpenter October 13, 1929 – May 3, 2016. My beautiful mommy.”
Carpenter became a singing sensation in the early 90s with the release of her most popular album, Come On, Come On – which was certified 4x Platinum by the RIAA and earned a Grammy award for her cover of “Passionate Kisses”.
Sadly, Carpenter experienced the tremendous loss of her mother just days before her new album is set to release on May 6th. No details were released about the cause of death. Mary Bowie Robertson Carpenter was 86 years old.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Mary Chapin Carpenter and her family during this incredibly difficult time.
