With dozens of number one songs and countless awards and nominations, Alabama is used to being recognized for their talent. But now, the iconic country group has been selected to receive one of Nashville's highest honors.
On Wednesday (May 4), Nashville mayor Megan Barry announced that Alabama has been selected as the 71st artist to receive a star on the Music City Walk of Fame.
Those who are chosen for the Music City Walk of Fame receive the honor as a way of recognizing their contributions to the Nashville music community. Considering all of Alabama's success, it was a no-brainer to Barry that they should be selected as the next artist to have a spot on the Walk of Fame:
"The inductees into the Music City Walk of Fame prove once again the dazzling scope and sweep of Nashville's musical history. Alabama is one of the great country groups of all time. They created a stunning blend of voices and musical styles to top the charts over and over and over again."
The induction ceremony will take place on May 26, during which soul singer Sam Moore of Sam & Dave will also be given a star on the Walk of Fame. Alabama joins the ranks of other great country stars on the Walk of Fame, including Johnny Cash, Charlie Daniels, and Reba McEntire.
With such a rich musical legacy, it's no surprise that Alabama is going to be featured on the Music City Walk of Fame. Tune in to the video below to watch them perform one of their signature songs "Mountain Music."
Congratulations to Alabama on being selected for such a prestigious honor!
