Fans of ABC’s hit TV show Nashville were shocked when the network announced it will not be returning for a fifth season.

Cast members took to social media to express their gratitude towards fans who have stuck with them the past four years.

Connie Britton, who played Rayna James, stayed quiet until her appearance on Late Night With Seth Myers on Tuesday night (May 17).

“It’s bittersweet, you know,” she told Meyers of the end of Nashville. “Look, I always feel like to have four years on anything, you can never take that for granted and you know it’s been a really great run. But, it’s nice to feel like, ‘Okay, we kind of ended it and now we’re gonna move on and hopefully I’ll be able to do something else fun and great.”

Since they shot on location in Nashville, Britton lived there for ten months out of the year and revealed that she had “basically raised” her five-year-old son in Music City.

Returning to Los Angeles will not be an easy transition for him. Apparently, he is an aspiring drummer and wants to stay!

She also posted a sweet message to her family, friends and fans on Facebook.
