Team Blake Brings Hank Jr. and Waylon Jennings Classic To ‘Voice’ Finale

NBC/The Voice/YouTube

In 1979, Hank Williams Jr. and Waylon Jennings recorded “The Conversation” for Williams’ Whisky Bent and Hell Bound album. The album went platinum but the duet didn’t see success until it was released as a single from Jennings’ 1983 album, Waylon and Company.

Williams and Jennings found moderate success with the tune but gained more attention for the music video they created to accompany the song. At the time, music videos were a rarity. In fact, “The Conversation” was the very first music video for Waylon Jennings and only the second for Hank Williams Jr.

Tonight, during ‘The Voice‘ finale, coach Blake Shelton and his protege Adam Wakefield “channeled their inner outlaw” and introduced the Hank Jr. & Waylon classic to a new generation of country fans. The duo kept true to the classic sound of the tune and the result was every bit as good as we imagined it would be!

The Season 10 ‘Voice’ winner will be crowned live on Tuesday night (May 24).
