In 2014, on their first day of infantry basic training, Andrew Yacovone and Justin Wright met and discovered a mutual love of music. The fateful meeting resulted a full-length EP and music videos recorded and released while the men were stationed in Afghanistan.

The duo, known as Interstate 10, has released its latest music video just in time for Memorial Day. “I’m Gonna Miss You” is a tune dedicated to families of fallen servicemen.

The men spoke with ABC News and shared that he began writing the tune before meeting Wright. After their unit lost soldiers during their first deployment, Yacavone revisited the song and with Wright’s help, finished it.

The two men were stationed 40 miles apart for their second deployment, but with the help of Skype were able to finish writing the song and shoot the music video in Afghanistan.

“If you could see what was behind the camera, it was interesting,” Andrew said. “Taped things over here, headlamps sitting around bunkers to light the scene using our flashlights. Just to make it all right.”

The result is an emotional, heart-wrenching tribute from two men who know first hand the dangers of war.

When the video was released on May 26, Andrew and Justin wrote,

“Memorial Day is about remembering the ones we lost and supporting their loved ones. It’s about celebrating the lives they lived. Thanking them for allowing us the opportunity to come home safe, and most of all, thanking them for a second chance to hug our loved ones.

“This video and song are in memory of all the soldiers who have died fighting for our country. Especially those they knew personally: 2LT Justin L. Sisson, PFC Jacob H. Wykstra, SSG Benjamin G. Prange, and PV2 Keith M. Williams.

“Please help us spread awareness and remind the public to remember this Memorial Day. For that we salute you, all the way from Afghanistan. Thank you.” -Andrew and Justin

The men pledged to donate $500 to the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is they reached 100,000 YouTube views by midnight on Memorial Day. At press time, the video has well over 200,000 views and the number is still climbing.

Andrew and Justin will be reunited in the next few weeks at Bagram Airfield where they will complete their deployment together. Justin told ABC News that there will be plenty more songwriting going on before the two return home.

“Most of our music is written on deployment,” Justin said. “You think of the restaurant where you want to eat at, and you think of where you’ll take a girlfriend on a date — what beaches you will go to, which mountain you are going to climb. You think of all these clear pictures of a dream life that most people don’t live, but you know you’re going to because you can do anything after you’ve been to Afghanistan for nine months.”
