On Thursday (May 26), Michael Martin Murphey announced the cancellation of his sold-out show that evening to rush to his mother's side, who he described as "critically ill".
Just a few days later, Murphey revealed his mother, Lois Marie Murphey, had passed away at the age of 94 on May 31.
While it is a sad time for Lois' family, she is now comfortable in Heaven with her husband of 62 years.
"May my mother's long and loving life be a Beacon of Light that humbles us and reminds us that her Savior Jesus Christ advocated a Way of Life that values kind and forgiving Love and Charity above all things in Heaven and Earth," he wrote.
When Murphey's father passed away, Lois was "devastated, but she kept his memory and legacy close every day". We're sure Murphey will do the same thing for his mother.
"Mother Lois," he wrote. "I kneel in thankful prayer before your memory. I am in awe of how a tiny, frail lady at the end of her earthly journey can be a Symbol of Dignity and Mightiness in Work of the Lord."
Lois was extremely supportive of Murphey's music career and often sent him letters, gifts, and treats while he was on the road. She always cared about his happiness, rather than his success, which meant a lot to Murphey.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Michael Martin Murphey and his family during this time.
