Once Dolly Parton confirmed she is releasing a sequel to her Coat of Many Colors movie, fans have been eating up any new details about the upcoming film. Set for release sometime in December in order to coordinate with the holiday season, the new film is titled Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love.
The entire cast will return for the new film, including Alyvia Alyn Lind, who plays “little Dolly.”
It was clear to Parton from the start that Lind was the perfect choice to play her as a young girl, and Lind proved that with her performance in the first film. Viewers were captivated by the immense talent of the young actress, who has also starred in multiple other films and television series, most notably the soap opera The Young and the Restless.
Now eight years old, Lind is preparing to play Parton once again in the Coat of Many Colors sequel. She spoke about the upcoming film during an interview with Go Knoxville, saying her mom has helped her look through the script while they wait for filming to begin.
“Every day my mom and I do something…like three pages every day and actually, we’re more than halfway done with the script,” she said. “It’s such a great script. It’s so amazing.“
Parton revealed in another interview that the film will be a Christmas movie, “about the time that mama didn’t have a wedding ring and we all saved up money to buy mama a ring for Christmas. And it’s about a blizzard that about done us in on the mountain years ago.” But did Lind have anything else to share about the script?
Although she didn’t want to spoil anything about what happens in the film, Lind revealed it’s a real tearjerker.
“Let’s just say my mom and I were bawling, crying [while] reading it,” she said.
The first film was emotional as well, which gave Lind the chance to shine as an actress. We’re sure she’ll do an amazing job playing little Dolly again in the sequel. You can listen to her talk more about playing Parton in the behind the scenes clip from the first film below.
The more we hear about the Coat of Many Colors sequel, the more excited we get to see it in December!
